Few sedan trawlers of her era surpass the Island Gypsy 36 Europa for her impressive mix of versatility, range, and eye appeal—characteristics that made her one of Island Gypsy’s most enduring models over the years. Distinguished by her stylish bridge overhangs and Euro-style supports, she rides on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a deep, prop-protecting keel. The Europa’s two-stateroom interior (offered with V-berths or an island queen berth forward) is notable for its hand-crafted teak joinery and teak parquet flooring. Forward in the salon, the galley is to port and the lower helm is to starboard with a sliding door adjacent. Aft to starboard is an L-shaped dinette that converts to a double berth, and opposite is a settee with an insulated icebox under. Topside, the Europa’s extended flybridge is among the largest in her class. A roomy cockpit is a plus, and wide side decks provide secure access to the bow. With her abundant exterior teak trim—decks, swim platform, window frames, handrails and bow pulpit—the 36 Europa will be a high-maintenance boat for those who appreciate varnished brightwork. Twin 135hp Lehman diesels cruise at 8–10 knots.
