Island Gypsy
32 Fisherman
1982–97
A handsome small boat with an upright profile, the Island Gypsy 32 Fisherman uses the same two-piece, semi-displacement hull mold used in Island Gypsy’s 32 Sedan model. Said to be based on a traditional Australian fishing boat design, she was built at the Halvorsen yard in mainland China. This is a handsome little fisherman with a spacious cockpit and a straightforward, businesslike appearance. The floorplan—basic but comfortable overnight accommodations for two—includes V-berths forward, an enclosed head with standup shower, a compact galley, and a convertible dinette. The lower helm (a popular option) is uniquely located just inside the cockpit door where forward and portside visibility are limited. The flybridge is rather small with passenger seating aft of the helm. Engine access is from inside the cabin as well as via a raised cockpit hatch, and the transom door and swim platform were standard. A single 275hp Sabre diesel will cruise the Island Gypsy 32 Fisherman at an economical 15 knots (17–18 knots top), and optional twin 210hp Cummins diesels cruise at a brisk 20+ knots.
