Island Gypsy

36 Quad Cabin

1978–2001

Island Gypsy 36 Quad Cabin
A popular Island Gypsy model with distinctive lines (note the stepped sheer), the 36 Quad Cabin is one of several 36-foot trawler-style designs produced by the Halvorsen yard dating back to the 1970s. She was heavily built on a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull with moderate beam, hard chines, and a long keel that fully protects the running gear. Her unique three-stateroom interior is a rarity in a 36-foot boat. The Quad Cabin layout features a private forward stateroom with a V-berth, a small cabin to the starboard with upper and lower berths, a head and shower and hanging locker to port, The lower steering station is to starboard and the galley is up to starboard opposite the L-shaped convertible dining area. The owners' stateroom aft has a double berth to port opposite a large wardrobe and head. Neither head has a separate stall shower. Standard features include a full teak interior, twin salon deck access doors, teak decks and walkways, working mast and boom, swim platform, and a generator. Twin 120hp Lehman diesels (or twin 225hp Lehmans in later models) will cruise the 36 Quad Cabin at 8–10 knots.
