Island Gypsy

49 Flush Aft Deck

1991–93

Island Gypsy 49 Flush Aft Deck
A larger version of the popular 44 Flush Aft Deck, the Island Gypsy 49 Flush Aft Deck is a comfortable long-range cruiser with a traditional trawler-style appearance and generous belowdeck accommodations. Like most recent models from Halvorsen Marine, the 49 was built in Mainland China on a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull with hard chines and a long keel for stability. The standard three-stateroom, three-head layout of the 49 Flush Aft Deck is arranged with the galley forward in the salon, opposite the lower helm station. In the alternate two-stateroom plan the galley and dinette are down, and the expanded salon dimensions add much to her cruising and entertaining appeal. Either way, the full teak interior is a showcase of well-crafted cabinetry and woodwork. The decks and cabintop are teak, and the forward center of the flybridge hinges down for additional access to the foredeck. The aft deck is very spacious and may easily be enclosed. Optional 375hp Cat diesels cruise at 15–16 knots and reach a top speed of around 18 knots.
