Egg Harbor made a clean break with the past when they introduced the 60 Sportfisherman back in 1986. Her high-tech construction (balsa-cored hullsides, Kevlar composites, etc.) represented an engineering first for Egg Harbor, a company that had in the past built their boats on conventional solid fiberglass hulls. The opulent three-stateroom, three-head floorplan of the Egg Harbor 60 is very innovative; by moving the engines aft and tightening up the engine room, designer David Martin was able to fit a unique step-down dressing area aft in the master stateroom and a small utility room at the end of the lower-deck hallway. On the main deck level, the vast salon can entertain a small crowd and the apartment-size galley will satisfy the needs of a gourmet cook. Topside, the 60’s large cockpit is partially shaded by a bridge overhang and includes all the amenities serious anglers expect in a tournament sport fisherman. Additional features include a spacious flybridge with rod storage forward of the helm, a bow pulpit, serviceable side decks and a restrained amount of teak interior woodwork. On the downside, the engine room is small for a 60-footer. GM 1,080hp 12V92 diesels cruise at 25 knots (28–30 knots top).
