Egg Harbor Yachts
35 Predator
2003–06
When the Predator 35 was introduced in 2000, she was easily one of the most expensive 35-footers in the world. Built by Predator Custom Yachts in Sarasota, FL, her advanced vacuum-bagged construction included a 50-percent Kevlar laminate and premium epoxies. Instead of riding on a high-performance stepped hull (all the rage these days), the Predator has a keel pad to reduce friction and tunnels to reduce the shaft angles. Egg Harbor purchased Predator Yachts in the fall of 2002 and moved production to their New Jersey facility. To get the price down, Egg Harbor replaced the original Kevlar construction with fiberglass, adding about 4,000 pounds of extra weight and chopping off some speed, but reducing costs by a significant margin. The redesigned Predator also includes a vastly improved interior (the early Predator interior was basic, to say the least) with high-gloss teak cabinetry, vinyl overheads, and Ultraleather upholstery. Bench seats flank the Predator’s custom console, and fishing amenities include a lift-out fish box, transom livewell, and tackle lockers. Fast and agile, Yanmar 440hp diesels cruise the Predator at 30 knots.
