Pacemaker

Introduced in 1990 by the “new” Pacemaker company (which ended operations in 1992), the 37 Sport Fisherman is a classic Jersey-style sport fisherman with handsome lines and a very spacious interior. Like most boats of her type, the 37 rides on a low-deadrise hull, and her 14-foot beam is wider than most boats her size. The big difference between the Pacemaker 37 and other midsize convertibles is the 37’s huge cockpit. At over 100 square feet, it came with everything from a full bait station and insulated fish box to a transom door. The single-stateroom interior includes a full galley, convertible L-shaped dinette, and a large owner’s stateroom. Note, however, that the salon dimensions are limited and—as salons go—it’s far too small for any serious entertaining. (The small salon is the price to be paid for the huge cockpit.) Topside, the flybridge isn’t huge but the helm and companion seats aren’t cramped and there’s bench seating forward of the helm console. Standard 350hp gas engines cruise the Pacemaker 37 SF at 20 knots and reach about 30 knots top. Optional 450hp Merlin diesels deliver a cruising speed of 24–25 knots.
