Pacemaker
30 Express Cruiser
1973–79
A classic express design from the 1970s, the Pacemaker 30 Express Cruiser was a no-frills family boat with a spacious cockpit and berths for up to six. Construction was solid fiberglass, a major selling point in 1973 when all-fiberglass construction was still relatively new in the marine marketplace. With an 11-foot, 6-inch beam, the Pacemaker is a roomy boat for her size with more interior volume than most 30-footers of her era. Several floorplans were available during her production years, all of which are completely dated by today's designer standards. All were arranged with a V-berth in the forward stateroom, and all included a convertible sofa and dinette as well as an enclosed, standup head compartment. On deck, the cockpit is very deep so it’s a long reach over the gunwale down to the water. Hatches in the cockpit sole provide access to the engines, and a bench seat on the small flybridge will seat three passengers. Visibility from the semi-enclosed lower helm is excellent. Note that the side decks are rather narrow. The Pacemaker 30 will cruise at 18–20 knots with twin 270hp Crusader engines (mid 20s top).
