Pacemaker
40 Motor Yacht
1972–80
Built on the same hull as the Pacemaker 40 Sport Fisherman, the Pacemaker 40 Motor Yacht proved to be a popular boat with 1970s motor yacht enthusiasts. Her traditional flushdeck profile is obviously dated today, but she’s a comfortable boat inside with plenty of room for cruisers and liveaboards alike. Early models had the galley aft in the salon with twin single berths in the owner’s stateroom. In 1976, teak replaced the mahogany interior, and the layout was revised with the galley moved forward from the salon for a notably larger and more open entertainment area. A walkaround queen berth in the master stateroom also became available in 1976. Visibility from the semi-enclosed lower helm is excellent in all directions, and the full-width aft deck came with a wet bar and fiberglass enclosure panels. Topside, the flybridge is small compared with those of modern motor yachts. Standard 350hp gas engines cruise the Pacemaker 40 Motor Yacht at 15–16 knots and reach a top speed of around 23 knots. Twin GM 6-71N diesels (17–18 knots cruise) were a popular option. Note the fuel capacity was increased to 300 gallons in 1977.
