Striker
62 Sport Fisherman
1986–1991
Only a few production yachts received the media attention of the Striker 62 SF when she was introduced in 1986. Aside from the fact that she was at the time the largest all-aluminum sportfisherman ever built, what set her apart from earlier Strikers was her lush interior decor and incredible 21-foot beam. Built in Holland (a total of nine were delivered), the Striker 62s were priced at the top of the chart compared to other yachts in her size range. The lavish three-stateroom accommodations must be seen to be appreciated—indeed, with a 21-foot beam, the floorplan dimensions are the equal of many motor yachts. Among several innovative design features, the steps in the cockpit can be raised hydraulically for engineroom access, and the electronics can be hidden within the flybridge helm console until needed. Standard 1,080hp 12V92s cruise about 23 knots (at around 100 gph) and reach a top speed of 26–27 knots. Optional 1,300hp 12-cylinder MTUs offer a 27-knot cruising speed and about 30 knots wide open. Officially out of production in 1991, custom Striker 62s were available for some time after that date.
