Striker

37 Canyon Runner

1988–91

Striker 37 Canyon Runner
One of the most expensive boats of her day, the Striker 37 Canyon Runner is an enlarged version of the original Striker 34 Canyon Runner (1973–76). She began life as a 36-foot prototype in 1987, but was lengthened the following year to gain additional cockpit space. The 37 can be characterized as a serious gamefishing machine with tank-like construction. Like all Strikers, the 37’s hull and superstructure are manufactured of heavy-gauge welded marine aluminum. The 14'7" beam is exceptionally wide for a boat the size, and the deepest part of the keel provides protection for the props. Inside, the Striker’s compact layout has a single stateroom forward, standup small head compartment (without a shower stall), convertible dinette, and a small galley. What appears to be a window in the aft bulkhead is actually a complete fold-up bait-prep center. The spacious cockpit of the Striker 37 dwarfs anything in her class before or after, and her huge 750-gallon fuel capacity is typical of many West Coast boats. Finally, the 37 Canyon Runner is one of the few Strikers built in the United States. Detroit 485hp 6-71 diesels cruise at 26–28 knots.
