Striker
53-54 Motor Yacht
1970–73
Called the Striker 53 MY during 1968–69, the Striker 54 MY is a Krogen-designed long range cruiser with a classic trawler-style profile. She was built on a semi-displacement hull with a deep forefoot and a relatively wide beam, and water-tight bulkheads (as well as a crash bulkhead forward) divide the hull into three separate compartments. Her standard galley-up, three-stateroom floorplan includes a spacious owner’s cabin aft, a full-beam engine room with standing headroom, and a utility room opposite the guest stateroom. A breakfast bar divides the galley from the salon, while a sliding door opens to a spacious aft deck with wing doors and teak decking. The Striker’s extended flybridge provides plenty of space for dinghy storage, and a bridge overhang provides weather protection for the side decks. Additional features include engine room sea chests (which eliminate a number of through-hull fittings), a third stateroom/crew quarters, port and starboard deck doors at the lower helm, and built-in guest seating on the foredeck. Solid and seaworthy, only a few were built. GM 400hp 8V-71 turbo-diesels deliver an efficient cruising speed of 8–10 knots and a top speed in the neighborhood of 16 knots.
