Striker
34 Canyon Runner
0
The 34 Canyon Runner was introduced in 1973 as a scaled-down version of the popular Striker 44 SF. She was built of welded aluminum in Norway and utilized the same exclusive hull design of the bigger Strikers. With her serious profile and ship-like construction, the 34 set the tone for future models in the Canyon Runner series. She was specifically designed for the type of offshore running typical of the Jersey and Maryland coasts. Her wide beam provides a stable fishing platform, and she has the range to go long distances without refueling. Inside, the cabin is arranged to meet the basic overnight needs of a couple of anglers with V-berths, a convertible dinette area, and a small galley and head. The interior is trimmed with teak woodwork and Formica counters—not a particularly stylish decor, but maintenance is easy. A rugged little vessel still occasionally found on the used market, the Striker 34 Canyon Runner with the 240-hp V555M Cummins diesels cruise at 15 knots and reach a top speed of 18–19 knots.
