Sea Ranger

55 Pilothouse

1976–89

Sea Ranger 55 Pilothouse
Built by C&L Marine in Taiwan and aimed at the West Coast cruising market, the Sea Ranger 55 is a classic low-profile pilothouse design with a wide beam and genuine long-range cruising capabilities. She’s constructed on a solid fiberglass hull with hard chines, flat aftersections, and a full-length keel. Notably, with her 18-foot, 7-inch beam, the Sea Ranger 55 is wider than any other production boat under 60 feet. Inside, the all-teak interior is arranged with a full-width master stateroom below the raised pilothouse, two guest staterooms forward, and the galley in the salon—the standard floorplan of most pilothouse yachts. Needless to say, the Sea Ranger 55 is a roomy boat inside thanks to her super-wide beam, and the cabin dimensions are very generous. Additional features include teak decks, a huge extended flybridge with dinghy storage aft, shaded side decks, and radar arch. About average in quality, 310hp 6-71N diesels will power the Sea Ranger 55 Pilothouse to speeds of 10–12 knots. At her 9-knot hull speed, the cruising range is over 2,000 nautical miles.
