Sea Ranger

36 Sundeck

1979–86

Sea Ranger 36 Sundeck
This plain-Jane Taiwan trawler offers up a decidedly unattractive profile (note the slab-sided hull and the midships wood planking) in exchange for an exceedingly roomy tri-cabin interior layout. Also known as the C&L 36 Trawler, the Sea Ranger 36 was Taiwan-built on a solid fiberglass hull with a generous beam, hard chines, and a full-length prop-protecting keel. Her spacious all-teak interior is very impressive for a 36-footer, especially the wide-open salon and oversize master stateroom with its walkaround island bed and excellent storage. Indeed, the 36 Sundeck has more interior square footage than most double cabins her size. Outside, the greatly elevated sundeck (for headroom below) is only three steps down from the flybridge with its centerline helm and guest seating. (Here again, the sundeck dimensions are very expansive for a boat this size.) A single or twin 120hp diesels will cruise the Sea Ranger 36 efficiently at 7.5 knots. Speeds to 13–14 knots can be attained with twin engines.
