Sea Ranger
52 Cockpit Motor Yacht
1985–89
The Sea Ranger 52 Cockpit MY—and her sistership, the 46 Sundeck—is a heavily built Taiwan import whose attractive profile and affordable price made her a relatively popular boat. Most were delivered with the standard two-stateroom, galley-down layout (although a three-stateroom, galley-up floorplan was also offered), and while the general layout resembles that found in many other yachts her size, the spacious aft stateroom of the 52 CMY is notable. Like most Taiwan-built yachts, the interior is traditional teak woodwork and cabinetry throughout and the overall fit and finish is about average. A sliding deck door at the lower helm makes foredeck access easy, and a built-in entertainment center is to port in the salon. The full-width aft deck is huge with enough room to entertain a small crowd. Additional features include wing doors, separate stall showers fore and aft, and plenty of storage. Among several engine options, a pair of 255hp (or 306hp) Volvo diesels cruise both the Sea Ranger 46 Sundeck and 52 Cockpit MY at 13–14 knots and reach a top speed of close to 18 knots.
