Sea Ranger

51 Motor Yacht

1983–89

Sea Ranger 51 Motor Yacht
The Sea Ranger 51 (also known as the C&L 51 Motor Yacht) enjoyed a good deal of popularity in the mid-1980s due to her attractive price and sensible layout. This is a straightforward flushdeck motor yacht with a wide beam, full walkaround decks, and an extended flybridge—a good cruising design with a choice of several floorplans. Construction is solid fiberglass, and a long keel protects the underwater gear in the event of a grounding. The galley is on the upper level in the four-stateroom layout, and it’s down in the three-stateroom floorplan. Either way, the salon is open to the helm, and the interior woodwork is teak throughout. Note that there is no inside access to the flybridge—a disadvantage in the eyes of many in a yacht of this length. The aft deck and side decks are sheltered with bridge overhangs, and all of the decks are teak. Twin 260hp Cat (and 265hp 6-71) diesels cruise the Sea Ranger 51 Motor Yacht at 11–12 knots (14 knots top), and GM 650hp 8V92s cruise at 15–16 knots (18+ knots top).
