56 Flybridge

1996–2002

Viking Sport Cruisers 56 Flybridge
A popular model, the Viking Sport Cruisers 56 Flybridge appealed to the emerging class of mid1990s yacht buyers seeking the styling and performance of a purebred European yacht. Built by Marine Projects, Ltd. in England on a deep-V hull with moderate beam, the VSC56 Flybridge employs prop pockets to reduce shaft angles and draft. Below decks, two separate salon seating areas, a sunken galley (with an attached laundry room), an elevated lower helm, and inside flybridge access blend together in a graceful and notably practical layout. Three staterooms are forward of the engine room, and twin-berth crew quarters are aft. The cockpit features a beaujpgul teak deck with built-in lounge seating. A hatch in the cockpit sole provides access to a large storage lazarette as well as the engine room. Topside, there’s seating for eight on the spacious flybridge with its aft sun pad, wet bar and low-profile arch. Unlike her more modern counterparts, a cockpit ladder rather than a molded staircase reaches the flybridge. A fast ride for a yacht this size, twin Volvo 610hp diesels cruise the Viking SC56 at 25 knots (28–30 knots top).
