V40 Express

1995–99

Viking Sport Cruisers V40 Express
The Viking V40 Express (originally called the Viking V39 Express) is a purebred Mediterranean performance cruiser with the sleek styling and luxurious accommodations European buyers expected in the late 1990s. Built in England where she was marketed as the Princess V40, her midcabin interior is arranged around a comfortable salon with a big U-shaped lounge opposite a large and well-equipped galley. Privacy doors separate both fore and aft staterooms from the main cabin, and the aft cabin comes with twin single berths that convert into a double, a small settee, and a hidden wash basin. Note that the head compartment includes a separate stall shower. Topside, the open spaces of the V40 are divided between an elevated bridge deck with an L-shaped settee, and the aft cockpit with U-shaped lounge seating that expands into a sun lounge. Additional features include wide side decks, a cockpit wet bar, foredeck sun pad, and a reverse radar arch. Note that the engine room is a very tight fit. An excellent performer, twin 420hp V-drive Cat (or 430hp Volvo) diesels cruise the Viking V40 Express at 28 knots with a top speed of 32–33 knots.
