Viking Sport Cruisers
46 Flybridge
1997–2000
The Viking Sport Cruisers 46 Flybridge (called the 45 Flybridge until 1998 when the swim platform was extended) combines the rakish lines and spirited performance of a 1990s era European sport yacht. Built in England, her solid fiberglass, deep-V hull (with prop pockets to reduce the shaft angles) is fairly light for a boat this size. The three-stateroom floorplan—rare in a boat this size—is arranged with the galley forward, a step down from the salon level. A huge wraparound settee dominates the salon where unique lower-level windows allow seated guests a panoramic view of the outdoors. Both guest staterooms have single berths, and the forward master stateroom features an island berth and private head. The cockpit, with its teak sole, L-lounge seating and transom door, is shaded by the extended flybridge. Additional features include high-gloss cherry joinery, foredeck sun pads, bow thruster, and teak swim platform. On the downside, the engine room is a tight fit. A good performer, 370hp Volvo diesels cruise the Viking 46 Flybridge at 23 knots (25–26 knots top), and 430hp Volvos cruise at 27 knots (about 30 knots top).
