Uniflite

48 Convertible

1980–84

Uniflite 48 Convertible
The Uniflite 48 Convertible is a handsome and good-running offshore sportfisherman built to compete in tournament-level events. She’s constructed on a solid fiberglass modified-V hull design with balsa coring in the hullsides from the waterline up. This was Uniflite’s largest (and last) foray into the big-boat sportfishing market. Once considered a relatively fast boat, the Uniflite 48 was one of the early production applications of the then-new 8V92 diesels. Several three-stateroom interior layouts were available, and buyers could choose between having the master stateroom amidships or forward at the bow. A lower helm was optional, and wraparound cabin windows make the salon seem very spacious indeed. Outside, the 48’s huge cockpit came with in-deck storage and direct access to the engine room. The flybridge is arranged with the helm console aft on the centerline with bench seating forward. The side decks are notably wide. Known for her agile handling, 550hp 8V92 diesels cruise the Uniflite 48 Convertible at 24–25 knots and reach 28 knots wide open. Note that these hull molds were later used by Chris Craft in the construction of their 482 Commander.
