Uniflite

28 Sport Sedan

1972–78

Uniflite 28 Sport Sedan
The Uniflite 28 Sport Sedan is a straightforward weekend fisher/cruiser whose rugged construction and practical layout made her a good-selling boat in her day. Obviously dated by modern design standards, she was built on the same hull used in the production of Uniflite’s popular 28 Salty Dog. Because they were built (and primarily marketed) in West Coast markets, most 28 Sport Sedans were sold with an optional lower helm station. There are berths for four with the dinette converted, and there’s a good deal of dry storage available beneath the V-berths and dinette seats. With the engines located beneath the cockpit bridge deck, the interior is set low in the hull which gives the boat a rakish, low-profile appearance as well as a low center of gravity—a practical design for a flybridge boat this size. The cockpit is large enough for several anglers, the side decks are wide enough for bow access, and there’s adequate guest seating on the flybridge. On the downside, the fuel capacity is surprisingly limited. Twin 270hp Crusader inboards cruise the Uniflite 28 at 20 knots and reach a top speed of 28–29 knots.
