Uniflite
37 Coastal Cruiser
1979–84
The 37 Coastal Cruiser was Uniflite’s response to the need for fuel-efficient family cruisers in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Designed to appeal to the trawler market, her efficient semi-displacement hull design allows for a planing-speed performance while still delivering comfortable and economical operation at lower speeds. Below, the all-teak interior features a spacious salon with large wraparound cabin windows for plenty of natural lighting. A service bar separates the salon area from the mid-level galley. The second “stateroom” is actually a lounge in the passageway with a privacy curtain (the backrest swings up to create over/under berths at night). The large double-entry head is fitted with a shower stall. Outside, a bridge overhang affords some weather protection for the cockpit, and the huge flybridge has seating for eight. Notably, the exhaust ports are underwater. Additional features include a bow pulpit, swim platform, and a portside lower helm station. Standard power was a single 192hp Volvo diesel (11 knots cruise), but most were built with twin 124hp Volvos for a cruising speed of 12–14 knots.
