Symbol Yachts
55 Yachtfisher
1989–96
A distinctive yacht with a sweeping sheer and an over-styled profile, the Symbol 55 Yachtfisher is a roomy cockpit yacht with generous cabin accommodations, a very large cockpit, and a traditional teak interior. While her appearance is a little unorthodox (and definitely dated by modern motor yacht standards), the 55 Yachtfisher is a big boat inside thanks to her wide 16-foot, 9-inch beam. She’s built on a solid fiberglass modified-V hull with an integrated swim platform and a shallow keel for directional stability. Among several floorplans offered during her production run, the three-stateroom layout shown below was standard for several years. In this arrangement, both the galley and dinette are down, and queen berths are found in the fore and aft staterooms. A lower helm station was optional. The cockpit is very large and comes with a door for direct access to the master stateroom—a notable convenience. Additional features include a bow pulpit, hardtop, side exhausts, a transom door and a very spacious flybridge. A modest performer with twin 425/435hp Caterpillar diesels, the Symbol 55 Yachtfisher will cruise at 16–17 knots.
