44 MK II Sundeck

1984–89

Symbol Yachts 44 MK II Sundeck
The Symbol 44 MK II Sundeck enjoyed a good deal of popularity during her production years thanks to her rugged construction, practical accommodations, and a very affordable price. There’s nothing high-tech about the 44; hull construction is solid fiberglass, and her full teak interior is similar to that found in most Taiwan boats of her era. Below deck, the Symbol’s galley-down floorplan is arranged with staterooms fore and aft, a convertible dinette, and a lower helm to starboard in the salon. A breakfast bar overlooks the galley, and the sliding deck door next to the lower helm is a convenience seldom found in yachts of this type. There’s a lot of storage space in the 44 MK II, and both heads come with separate stall showers. To enter the engine room, one simply lifts the dinette steps and crawls in. Topside, a wet bar is standard on the aft deck, and bench seats flank the centerline helm on the flybridge. Note that the exhausts are routed outside the hull in an attempt to reduce noise in the aft stateroom. Among several power options, Cat 375hp diesels cruise the Symbol 44 MK II at 16 knots and reach a top speed of about 20 knots.
