Symbol Yachts 50 Pilothouse
Pilothouse yachts have always been popular in the American market due to their versatile layouts and all-weather cruising capabilities. With the 50 Pilothouse, Symbol delivered a stylish and well-finished yacht at a very competitive price. Built on a shallow-deadrise modified-V hull, a choice of two or three staterooms is available, both with a full-beam master suite beneath the pilothouse. (Note that a washer/dryer is standard, opposite the second head, in the two-stateroom layout.) The galley is forward in the salon which is fully paneled with grain-matched teak woodwork. The pilothouse is four steps up from the main deck level and includes a dinette in addition to a starboard deck access door and a stairway up to the flybridge. Considering the expansive salon dimensions, it’s hardly a surprise that the cockpit is rather small although there’s room enough for a couple of chairs. Additional features include an integral swim platform, flybridge dinghy storage, cockpit engine room access, and full walkaround side decks. Twin 450hp Cat (or Cummins) diesels cruise Symbol 50 Pilothouse at 18 knots and reach a top speed in the low 20s.
