55 Pilothouse

1994–2003

Symbol Yachts 55 Pilothouse
Classic styling, a spacious interior, and quality construction made the 55 Pilothouse a good-selling model for Symbol during her production years. She rides on a shallow-deadrise hull with a deep, prop-protecting keel, cored hullsides, and a wide 16'9" beam. Two floorplans were available: The two-stateroom layout has a private entryway from the salon to the master suite along with a huge head with twin sinks and a tub, while the three-stateroom arrangement eliminates the master’s private access stairs and the massive head in favor of a third cabin with over/under berths. Either way, the galley and dinette are forward on the elevated pilothouse level which makes for an open and very comfortable salon. Note that in 1998 the hull was lengthened by 12 inches to enlarge the pilothouse and lower-deck accommodations. Additional features include a portside deck door, walk-in engine room with workbench and standing headroom, an extended swim platform, and a fairly large flybridge with dinghy storage. Among several engine choices, Cat 435hp diesels cruise at 16–17 knots, and later models with 660hp Cats cruise at 19–20 knots.
