The Symbol 42 Motor Yacht(also called the Classic Trawler) is an affordable blend of traditional styling, roomy accommodations, and comfortable open-water performance. As her name implies, the 42 is a “classic” trawler in that she incorporates full walkaround decks rather than a raised, full-width afterdeck common to so-called “sundeck” yachts. Several two-stateroom interior layouts were available in the Symbol 42, all with a standard lower helm and twin salon deck doors. Removable hatches in the salon sole provide access to the large engine room, and a washer/dryer combo is optional in the galley-up layouts. As it is with many Taiwan yachts, the Symbol’s interior is fully finished with teak cabinetry and wall coverings as well as a stylish teak-and-holly sole. Above, there’s lounge seating for six on the flybridge along with a refreshment center and cocktail table. Additional features include a radar mast, bow pulpit, generator, and swim platform. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a relatively deep keel, twin 220 Cummins diesels cruise the 42 Classic Trawler at 8–9 knots and reach a top speed of about 12 knots. Note that her large 630-gallon fuel capacity translates into excellent range.REWRITE
