38 Sportfish Cruiser

Fountain 38 Sportfish Cruiser
Fountain really got it right with the 38 Sportfish Cruiser, a high-performance express with great lines and a versatile, family-friendly layout. Offered with sterndrive and outboard power, the 38 SFC rides on a slender double-stepped hull with Fountain’s signature notched transom and keel pad design. The cockpit layout depends on the power—with the sterndrive boat, twin 30-gallon livewells are built into the transom corners, an insulated fish box is under the companion seat, and a bait-prep station is positioned behind the passenger seat. In the outboard layout, a big 70-gallon livewell is centered in the transom and there are two large in-deck fish boxes. A backup well holding 35 more gallons is in the forward starboard corner behind the helm. Below, the mid-cabin accommodations are compact but well finished. A V-berth/dinette is forward, enclosed head and small galley is to port, and a kid-size cabin is aft. On the raised bridge deck, the helm is on the centerline and the throttle controls are to the left of the wheel, raceboat-style. Sterndrive models powered with 350hp Cummins diesels cruise at 35–40 knots (high 40s top). Triple 300hp Verado outboards top out at close to 55 knots.
