29 Sportfish Cruiser

1995–2005

Fountain 29 Sportfish Cruiser
The Fountain 29 Sportfish Cruiser (introduced as a 27-footer in 1993—a redesigned transom the next year added 2 feet to her length) is a trailerable, downsized version of Fountain’s popular 31 Sportfish Cruiser. The 29 SFC is a lightweight, high-performance cuddy fisherman with fully cored construction and a deep-V hull with a keel pad for added lift. With only an 8'4" beam, the 29 SFC is a small boat compared with just about any other boat her size. Offered with sterndrive or outboard power, the cabin of the sterndrive model is smaller than the outboard version because the engine box requires that everything be moved forward at the expense of the cabin. Either way, the cockpit offers an unobstructed fishing platform with an insulated in-deck fish box, livewell, under-gunnel rod storage, washdowns, and—on the outboard version—transom storage boxes. A half tower with enclosure was standard. Below, the small cuddy has a convertible V-berth/dinette, sink with pressure water, and icebox. A fast, dry and fuel-efficient boat, the 29 SFC delivers a top speed of over 50 knots with twin 225hp outboards. The sterndrive version with a 375hp MerCruiser will cruise at 28–30 knots.
