Albin
49 Cockpit Trawler
1979–94
Those familiar with some of the older Albin trawlers may well recognize the 49 Cockpit Trawler pictured above as an Albin 43 Sundeck model with a cockpit addition. Heavily built on a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull with hard chines, flat aftersections, and a full-length keel, the graceful sheer and well-flared bow of the 49 Cockpit Trawler give her a businesslike and particularly salty appearance. Inside, her standard two-stateroom floorplan—finished with plenty of well-crafted teak woodwork throughout—boasts an oversize master stateroom with excellent storage and a tub in the adjoining head. A lower helm is standard, and there are port and starboard deck access doors in the salon. The Albin 49’s full-width afterdeck is very spacious, and the cockpit allows for extra fuel and storage capacity in addition to providing a platform for swimming and diving activities. Additional features include an aft-deck hardtop, radar arch, and plenty of guest seating on the bridge. Note that a keel protects the running gear and, unfortunately, there’s no transom door in the cockpit. Among several engine options, twin 250hp Cummins diesels cruise at 10–12 knots.
