27 Family Cruiser

The Albin 27 Family Cruiser is a descendant of the Swedish-built Albin 25 Cruiser, one of the best-selling small craft ever produced. The 27 was a popular model for Albin due to her fuel-efficient operation, affordable price, and sturdy, solid fiberglass construction. A full-length keel provides sure-footed tracking when the seas pick up, and a shallow draft makes the 27 ideal for cruising the coastal and inland lakes. While her twin-cabin accommodations are necessarily basic in both size and amenities, they are nonetheless adequate for the cruising couple or an undemanding small family. The forward cabin features a good-sized double berth, full galley, dinette, hanging locker, and a surprising amount of storage. Perhaps the best feature of the Albin 27 is her center-cockpit layout with its inboard seating and protected helm. Built in the U.S., Albin 27s require relatively little maintenance and they handle a chop well for a small boat. Several small diesel engines were available over the years, all of which consume only 2–3 gph at a cruising speed of 10–12 knots. A bow thruster and additional fuel were standard in later models.
