Albin
28 TE
1993–2007
One of the most popular 28-foot cruisers ever, the Albin 28 TE combines classic Downeast styling with a spacious cockpit and comfortable cabin accommodations. The 28 is heavily built on a modified-V hull with a wide beam, hard aft chines, and a prop-protecting skeg keel. A cushioned engine box behind the helm seats dominated the cockpit until 2003 when a Flush Deck option moved the engine forward, under the helm deck, narrowing the quarter berth but opening up the cockpit in a big way. Below deck, the surprisingly roomy interior of the 28 TE has the comforts of a larger boat with a full-service galley with fridge and microwave to port, standup head/shower to starboard, mid-cabin berth aft and a convertible U-shaped dinette forward. A teak and holly sole was standard, and six opening ports provide good cabin ventilation. Additional features include a molded bow pulpit, transom door, trim tabs, full-height bow rail, raw-water washdown, bow thruster, and transom storage boxes. Cruise at 16–18 knots with single 315hp Yanmar diesel. After Albin went out of business, a Newport Edition with bridge deck lounge seating was built for a few years by C&C Marine.
