40 Trawler

The Albin 40 Trawler is a sturdy semi-displacement cruising yacht with a traditional trawler-style profile, full teak interior, and comfortable cabin accommodations. (Note that her sistership, the Albin 40 Sundeck, is the same boat with a full-width aft deck and slightly increased owner’s cabin dimensions.) Both models share the same two-stateroom, galley-down interior with a queen bed aft and port and starboard deck access doors in the salon. Visibility from the lower helm is very good and while the all-teak interior can be a little oppressive, traditionalists will probably find it to their liking. The flybridge seats six, and the full walkaround decks of the Albin 40 are a big plus when it comes to dockside line handling. While a single 135hp Lehman diesel was once standard, most Albin 40s were sold with twin 135hp Lehmans (10 knots cruise/13 knots top) or—more recently—210hp Cummins (12 knots cruise/15 top). Note that the props and rudders are well protected from grounding by the deep skeg. While not a low maintenance boat, the Albin 40 can be a good choice or retirees looking for an inexpensive liveaboard boat.
