Albin 40 Sundeck
Sistership to the popular Albin 40 Double Cabin, the Albin 40 Sundeck offers the space and comfort of a full-beam master stateroom at the expense of the walkaround decks found on the 40 Double Cabin. Built on a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull, both the Sundeck and Double Cabin models share similar two-stateroom, galley-down layouts with a queen bed aft and port and starboard deck doors in the salon. The aft cabin of the 40 Sundeck seems surprisingly spacious, but the U-shaped galley is uncomfortably confining with only modest storage space. Visibility from the lower helm is very good, however, and while the full teak interior can be a little oppressive, most traditionalists will find it to their liking. Topside, the flybridge will seat six aft of the helm, and there’s room on the full-width aft deck for several pieces of deck furniture. Additional features include a folding mast and boom, teak window frames and handrails, and a tub/shower in the aft head. Most Albin 40s were built with twin 135hp Lehman diesels. Later models have 210hp Cummins diesels (12 knots cruise/15 top).
