Offshore Yachts
55 Pilothouse
1990–97
Pilothouse yachts have a strong following in the Pacific Northwest where the advantages of an inside helm can be appreciated year-round. The Offshore 55 Pilothouse and her more recent sistership, the Offshore 60 Pilothouse (introduced in 1998) differ only in the 60’s extended transom platform and larger fuel capacity. These are highly finished yachts, built in Taiwan and designed for yachtsmen who value substance over glitz. The three-stateroom interior of the 55/60 is arranged with the pilothouse three steps up from the salon. The master suite is reached from a private salon staircase, while another staircase from the pilothouse leads to a foyer with a concealed washer/dryer. Two staterooms feature double berths and one has upper and lower bunks. Each stateroom has large hanging lockers, and two heads with showers are provided. The galley is forward of the salon, and solid teak cabinetry, quality furnishings, and vinyl overheads highlight the interior. Flybridge overhangs shade the wide side decks and much of the cockpit, and the extended swim platform of the 60 is ideal for water activities. Detroit 6V92 625hp diesels cruise at 15 knots (17–18 knots top).
