Jefferson enjoyed an enviable reputation some years ago for delivering a lot of boat for the money—something many manufacturers claim but few actually deliver. With the 50 Rivanna, Jefferson managed to deliver the comforts and features buyers look for in a midsize motor yacht at a surprisingly competitive price. Built on a modified-V hull with a shallow keel and solid fiberglass bottom, the standard two-stateroom, galley-down layout includes a spacious salon, a large master stateroom, and a surprisingly roomy bow stateroom with an angled double bed. The lacquered, grain-matched teak joinery found throughout the Rivanna’s interior is certainly one of her more attractive features. A lower helm is optional, and the starboard sliding door in the salon provides quick deck access. A notable highlight of the 50 Rivanna is her spacious afterdeck with its standard wet bar, hardtop and wing doors. Molded steps lead down to the swim platform—a feature that makes boarding from a low dock both easy and safe—and wide side decks will be appreciated by those going forward. The 50 Rivanna will cruise at close to 18 knots (20+ knots top) with Cummins 480hp diesels.
