42 Viscount

1990–94

Jefferson Yachts 42 Viscount
Replacing Jefferson’s original 42 Sundeck model in 1990, the Jefferson 42 Viscount boasts a more streamlined profile than her predecessor while retaining the full teak interior and affordable price that made Jefferson yachts so popular in the 1990s. She rides on a low deadrise solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a shallow keel for directional stability. The Viscount’s standard two-stateroom interior is arranged with the galley and dinette down a few steps from the salon. The double berth in the forward stateroom is angled to save space, and the forward head is divided with a separate shower compartment to starboard. Note that a lower helm was standard in the salon. While the abundant teak woodwork is very well finished, it does make for a rather dark interior in spite of the large cabin windows. Topside, the full-width aft deck of the 42 Viscount is large enough for casual entertaining, and the flybridge is set up with the helm forward and guest seating aft. A hardtop, radar arch, and bow pulpit were standard. Among several engine options, twin 300hp Cummins diesels cruise at 18 knots, and 375hp Cat diesels cruise at 20 knots.
