Jefferson Yachts 40 Convertible
No fisherman in spite of the hardtop and riggers pictured above, the Jefferson 40 Convertible (note that she was called the 42 Sport Sedan late in her production run) is a straightforward sedan cruiser with an all-teak interior decor to go with her traditional convertible profile. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and her generous 14-foot, 5-inch beam is very wide for a 40-footer. Two floorplans were available: a two-stateroom, galley-up layout with a queen berth forward, and a two-stateroom, galley-down version with an offset double berth forward and a more open salon. The head compartment includes a separate stall shower, and a lower helm is optional. Topside, the flybridge is very large with guest seating forward of the helm console. The side decks of the Jefferson 40 are notably wide, and the cockpit is large enough for a few deck chairs or light-tackle fishing. Several engine options were offered. Among them, a pair of 250hp Cummins diesels cruise efficiently at 15 knots and deliver a top speed of approximately 18–19 knots. Only about six of these boats were built.
