Jefferson Yachts 37 Convertible
The Jefferson 37 Convertible is an Asian-built family sedan whose conservative profile and all-teak interior appealed to entry-level buyers on a budget. Like most Jefferson models of her era, she was built on a low-deadrise, solid fiberglass hull with a shallow keel and an unusually wide 14-foot, 5-inch beam. With so much beam, the Jefferson 37 is a roomy boat inside and it’s hard to feel cramped below in spite of the dark interior woodwork (teak paneling, cabinetry, bulkheads, and teak parquet flooring). Two floorplans were available: a two-stateroom layout with the galley up, and a galley-down arrangement with a single stateroom and a wide-open salon. Both layouts have a double berth in the master stateroom as well as a standard lower helm station. Because the 37 was never conceived as a serious fishing boat, the cockpit is on the small side. Additional features include a stall shower in the double-entry head compartment, a spacious engine room, transom door, radar arch, bow pulpit, and wide side decks. Twin 250hp Cummins diesels cruise the Jefferson 37 at 16–17 knots (20+ knots top), and 300hp Cummins diesels cruise at 19–20 knots.
