Contender
27 Open
1997–2008
Rough water, no problem, this legendary sport fishing machine still sets the class standards in nearly every category that counts. Lightweight, fast, with excellent range and a near flawless finish, the fully cored hull of the Contender 27 is relatively light compared with other center consoles her size. The deck layout is completely uncluttered from bow to stern and wide walkways around the console make it easy to get around. Standard features include an integrated swim/dive platform, 65-gallon aft livewell, large 140-gallon forward fish box, 76-gallon aft fish box, leaning post with rod holders, in-floor rod lockers, removable cooler, pop-up bow cleat and light, Lenco trim tabs, lockable electronics box, walk-in head compartment, raw-water washdown, recessed bow rails, cockpit bolsters, and a transom door. The Contender 27 is easily trailered although its 8'10" beam just slightly exceeds the legal width limit in all states. A proven open-water performer, twin 200hp Yamaha outboards deliver a top speed of close to 45 knots. Note that the 27 Open was not designed to handle the heavier weights of modern four-stroke outboards.
