Contender
25 Tournament
2010–Current
An updated version of the Contender 25 Open, the 25 Tournament is a semicustom center console whose long list of attributes has made this boat extremely popular with serious anglers. The fuel tank is bigger than most in this class; storage is excellent, and resale values are consistently above average. From the Contender web site: “The 25 Tournament is simply a great all-around boat. And rigged with single or twin Yamaha outboards, you’ll get to where you want to go quickly and efficiently. The Contender’s 24.5 degree deadrise hull design makes quick work of any chop with a soft, dry ride.” The fish boxes are huge for a boat this size and bilge access is excellent. Amenities include recessed bow rail, forward recessed gunwale rod holders, 40-gallon rear livewell, in-deck fish box, and walkthrough transom. With a trailerable 8'6" beam, the cockpit is a little tight when compared to some other 25-foot center consoles but definitely workable. It’s worth noting that the 25T is one of the bigger center consoles able to get the job done with a single 300hp engine—40-plus knots with a Yamaha F300. Twin F150s reach a top speed north of 45 knots.
