Cheoy Lee Yachts 55 Long Range Trawler
A popular and long-running model in the Cheoy Lee fleet, the 55 Long Range Trawler is a heavily built, long-range cruiser whose rugged construction and traditional good looks have made her a very appealing boat on the used market. Wittholtz designs are known for their seakindly handling characteristics, and the 55 Trawler will certainly satisfy those seeking a comfortable and capable offshore passagemaker. She’s built on a round-bottomed hull with moderate beam and firm bilges, and with a fully loaded weight in excess of 80,000 pounds, she’s a heavy yacht by any standard. Her standard four-stateroom layout is arranged on the lower level with the owner’s aft cabin separated from the forward staterooms by a walk-in engine room. The galley is up (which only adds to her popularity in most markets), and the covered aft deck is large enough for comfortable entertaining. Note the fake stack on the bridge. Additional features include wide and well-protected teak side decks, an enclosed wheelhouse, and a full teak interior. Twin 210hp Cat diesels cruise the Cheoy Lee 55 Trawler at an economical 8–9 knots while burning about 6–7 gallons per hour.
