48 Motor Yacht

1981–86

Cheoy Lee Yachts 48 Motor Yacht
Introduced back in 1981, the then dramatic European styling and aggressive profile of the Cheoy Lee 48 Motor Yacht represented a bold departure from the conservative lines of most other production motor yachts of her day. She was built on a lightweight and fully cored hull with moderate beam and a relatively flat bottom. An unusual feature of her standard two-stateroom floorplan is the curved corridor leading down from the salon to the galley and guest stateroom. The passageway is offset to the starboard side of the salon and bends hard-left to the galley and dinette—an innovative arrangement that makes the salon seem huge but cuts the galley off completely. Outside, the aft deck is not especially roomy for a 48-footer, but the bridge is big enough for a small crowd and includes a huge sun pad aft. Additional features include a bow pulpit, a teak aft deck, wide side decks and a two-person foredeck sun pad. A good performer with 550hp 8V92 diesels, the Cheoy Lee 48 Motor Yacht can cruise at a fast 26 knots and reach 29 knots wide open. Just six of these yachts were built during her production run.
