Cheoy Lee Yachts 50 Trawler
FIX THIS PAGE The Cheoy Lee 50 Trawler is another in the series of long range cruising yachts Cheoy Lee built for the American market back in the late 1970s. Originally a raised pilothouse sedan, in 1979 the Tri Cabin model (pictured above) featured an aft cabin below an elevated main deck. The Cheoy Lee 50 is an all-fiberglass boat built on a heavy displacement hull with a deep, prop-protecting keel. The aft-cabin floorplan comes as a surprise considering her sedan-style appearance. Reached from a stairway in the salon, this roomy guest stateroom comes with a centerline double berth, private head, and a writing desk. A huge master suite is amidships, and the bow stateroom is fitted with V-berths. With her wide side decks, the salon dimensions of the Cheoy Lee are relatively modest for a 50-footer. The U-shaped galley is open to the salon, and Note the bridge overhang around the decks and cockpit. Obviously built for those seeking tradition over glitz, the interior is finished with teak cabinetry and woodwork throughout. There were several engine choices offered in the Cheoy Lee 50 including twin 120-hp Lehmans and 210-hp Cats. With 1,600 gallons of fuel her cruising range can exceed 2,000 miles at 7 knots.
