Stamas
270 Tarpon
1997–2008
Rugged, functional, and easy on the eye, the Stamas 270 Tarpon combines solid construction and a roomy cockpit in a practical, no-frills fishing platform. Boasting a wide 9'7" beam, the Tarpon is a roomy 27-footer with plenty of storage and cockpit space for two anglers to work without bumping elbows. The layout includes V-shaped forward seats with storage under, step-down head compartment with Porta-Potti (or plumbed marine toilet), forward-facing console seat, leaning post with rod holders and backrest, and a full-height transom with insulated fish box and recirculating 19-gallon livewell. A fold-down stern seat frees up extra cockpit space when needed. A large in-deck storage well is forward of the console, and a deck hatch in the cockpit provides good access to the batteries and pumps. The Tarpon’s large dash flat can house several video displays. Pop-up cleats are a nice touch, and tackle drawers, saltwater washdown, under-gunnel rod storage, cockpit shower, pedestal bow table, transom door, and an integral bow pulpit are all standard. An excellent family boat with plenty of seating, Yamaha 225hp outboards cruise the 270 Tarpon at 30 knots (40–45 knots wide open).
