Stamas
250 Tarpon
1997–2006
Available with outboard or inboard power, the Stamas 250 Tarpon is a mid-tier center console whose workmanlike finish and fuel-efficient hull are among her principal attributes. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with an integral transom platform, there’s a lot of wood used in the construction of the Stamas 250. Fishing features include 20-gallon recirculating transom livewell, under-gunwale rod stowage for six rigs, and a stern fishbox that can hold half a dozen tuna. Insulated storage boxes are beneath the molded front seats, and all hatches and compartments drain overboard so there's no standing water. The leaning post (which doubles as an engine box on the inboard version) includes for rod holders and a transom door and saltwater washdown are standard. The standup head compartment in the console is roomy enough although an opening port might have been a good idea. The Tarpon’s broad bow pulpit simplifies anchoring chores and the auxiliary forward anchor storage locker is a nice touch. Twin 150hp outboard deliver a top speed of 35 knots, and a single 300hp 5.7-liter gas inboard will reach 29–30 knots top. Note that a prop tunnel is designed into the hull of the inboard version to reduce the draft and shaft angle.
