Stamas

255 Family Fisherman

1988–95

The appropriately named 255 Family Fisherman achieved a good deal of popularity during her production years as a well built and affordably priced fisherman suitable for family outings as well as weekend cruising activities. She’s built on a solid fiberglass hull with a molded bow pulpit and a trailerable 8-foot, 6-inch beam. Like many boats of her type, the length of the Stamas 255 is slightly tilted in favor of outside deck space although the interior is large enough for comfortable overnighting. Cabin accommodations include a convertible dinette/V-berth forward, a compact galley, an enclosed stand-up head/shower, and excellent headroom. On deck, the single-level cockpit of the Stamas 255 is efficiently arranged with pedestal helm and companion seats forward, port and starboard tackle boxes, under-gunwale rod storage, three insulated fishboxes, and a deep in-sole fishbox—a good equipment list for a boat that doesn’t pretend to be a hard-core fisherman. Power options included a single sterndrive, single or twin Sea Drives, or single or twin outboards. Among them, twin 150-hp outboards will reach a top speed in the neighborhood of 35 knots.
