Silverton Yachts
34 Sedan
1977–81
The Silverton 34 Sedan was conceived as a stylish (for the late 1970s, at least) family cruiser with big-boat accommodations and an affordable price tag. She rides on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam, a fairly flat sheer, and considerable flare at the bow. With her engines located under the cockpit sole (rather than beneath the salon), the salon floor sits low in the hull which reduces the profile of the 34. Below deck, the interior is arranged on a single level—no steps leading down to the forward stateroom—which creates the impression of a large and very open cabin. The inside helm was a standard feature, and the visibility is very good considering the lowered salon level. Both the galley and head are located aft, just inside the salon door, where they’re within easy reach of those outside. The cockpit measures a full 100 square feet—large for a boat of this type with enough room for two anglers and their gear. Hatches in the cockpit sole provide good access to the motors and V-drive units. Chrysler 250hp gas engines were standard, with 270hp Crusaders offered as options. Cruising speeds for both are 17–18 knots with top speeds are in the mid 20s.
