Silverton Yachts
271 Express
1995–97
The Silverton 271 Express is an entry-level cruiser with a high-freeboard profile and midcabin accommodations for four. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only (legally) trailerable cruiser Silverton ever produced. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a slender 8'6" beam and integrated swim platform, no one will ever describe the 271’s Spartan interior as “spacious” in spite of her generous cabin headroom. The layout features a convertible U-shaped dinette forward, compact galley with microwave and under-counter 12V/110V refrigerator to port, enclosed standup head with hand-held shower, and double berth aft with privacy curtain and opening port. The deep cockpit of the Silverton 271 includes an L-shaped settee opposite the helm, swivel captain’s chair, two-person bench seat aft, and transom door. A hot and cold shower, swim ladder, and storage locker are standard on the swim platform. Lacking side decks, a walk-through windshield provides access to the foredeck. A hatch in the cockpit sole provides good access to the motor. An integral bow pulpit and trim tabs were standard. No racehorse, the Silverton 271 Express will cruise at 16–18 knots with a single 310hp 7.4L MerCruiser I/O.
